2024 Baby Boomer Reunion Recap

July 19-20, 2024
Hampton Inn Amarillo West
The Plaza
Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House

Fellow Buffs!
Our “Baby Boomers” from the 60s and 70s had our reunion in Amarillo. As our reunion approached, I received a number of messages of regret for very significant reasons for not being able to travel.

Thursday, July 18 we had eight “early birds” and locals for dinner at Pescaraz Italian Thursday, July 18; very close to Dr. Garner’s house.

Fourteen came to dinner on Friday, July 19, at The Plaza, Dr. Garner’s favorite restaurant. This was just a time to socialize and catch up.

Saturday, July 20, we had Salad, Pizza, and Wings with fourteen coming and going in the Meeting Room at the Hampton Inn. Some like Dick Archer and Gary Laramore stopped in as they were traveling. We’re so happy you stopped by even for a short visit.

Finally, Saturday night with nineteen in attendance, we were graciously hosted by the Hoffbrauf and Doug Richards’ family including his niece, . I would like to give a huge “Thank you” to who let us use her projector for slideshows at the Hoffbrau. The evening included the Tribute to Dr. Garner in a slideshow with a poem written by a friend of ours. This Tribute to Dr. Garner can be found on our WT Website. It includes pictures from WTSU 1967 to 1970 yearbooks and the music of “On, On and On” written by Dr. Joe Nelson and Dr. BJ Brooks and performed by the WT Alumni Band in San Antonion in 2016. We also viewed our WTSU Band In Memorium… Slideshow. This led us to bringing forth names not in the slideshow.

Our alumni were asked to contribute to a Book of Memories which was presented to Dr. Garner on Saturday. These memories were read or shared in some way which brought forward conversation for the evening. An important item I need to mention…

As I was going through these pictures, I somehow failed to get a picture of Dave and Linda Ritter. It was wonderful as always to see The Ritters. People came when they were able, so the faces changed at each of the events. While we missed having so many of you, we continue to come together with the special bond we share including all our memories of a special time in our lives with a leader who formed who we are today.

    Judy,
Lieng and I had a wonderful time at the reunion. Events like this don’t just “happen”. There is a lot of time-consuming planning. It is much appreciated. Thank you for helping us all create more wonderful memories.
