New WTAMU Percussion Instructor Ryan Boehme
Ryan Boehme is a percussionist from Mobile, AL. He has served as the Acting Principal Percussionist of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and has performed with many other orchestras in Florida. He has also played in jazz combos and big bands, as well as the Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime toy soldier band at Walt Disney World. As a student at Florida State University, he performed with the award-winning FSU Percussion Ensemble for several years, including their showcase concert at the 2023 Percussive Arts Society International Convention.
As an educator, Boehme served as the Visiting Instructor of Percussion at the University of Central Florida for the 2022-23 academic year, where he instructed private lessons and directed the Percussion Ensemble and New Music Ensemble. He has served as an instructor, arranger, and clinician for drumlines and front ensembles at the university and high school levels. Additionally, he has taught private lessons for over a decade, coaching students in orchestral percussion, marching percussion, and drum set.
Boehme is currently completing his Doctor of Music degree in Percussion Performance at Florida State University. He holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of South Alabama. His primary teachers include Dr. John W. Parks IV, Dr. Thad Anderson, Kirk Gay, Jeff Moore, and Dr. Luis Rivera.
