Where are you living now and what are you doing?

Burleson, Texas-retired from Joshua ISD after 28 years of teaching (22 in Joshua)

Tell us about your family.

Married to Teri Smoot who is also a director, and have two daughters. Karissa is in the Marine Corps, and Melody will be studying music education at Texas Tech in the fall.

What instrument did you play?

Tuba

What ensembles and student groups were you involved in while you were at WT?

Symphonic Band, faculty Brass Quintet, Mesa Brass, The Sound, Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble

Playing with so many outstanding musicians.

Do you have a favorite memory or highlight that has happened for you since graduation?

Amazing experiences with many years of wonderful students, many who have gone on to do many great things including becoming teachers themselves.

Do you have any advice for current WT students?

Believe in what you are setting out to do, and use those of us who have been there as mentors-we all want you to succeed.
