WTAMU Music Faculty Member Receives University Award
Outstanding Contributions in Intellectual/Creative Activities
Guglielmo Manfredi
Music performance can be both an individual and a group effort. The faculty member in 2023 that exhibited not only a great number of these efforts, but did so with an impeccably high caliber of performance was Dr. Guglielmo Manfredi. Guli’s contributions in 2023 encompassed solo performances, symphony engagements, brass quintet appearances, chamber ensemble collaborations, masterclasses, and conducting.
He traveled to Tasmania, presenting a solo recital, collaborated with members of the Tasmania Symphony Orchestra, and engaging with local music students through private lessons and masterclasses. He performed by invitation with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra in Wichita KS. Additionally, he taught horn masterclasses and private lessons to students at Wichita State University.
With Triosarahchops, he performed at the College Music Society South Central Regional Conference in San Angelo, Texas, and the Music by Women International Festival in Columbus, Mississippi. He also had the privilege of performing at the College Music Society National Conference in Miami, FL. In addition, he conducted the West Texas Symphony brass ensemble during their holiday celebration concert.
He also conducted clinics with the Amarillo High School orchestra and held his weekly rehearsals as conductor of the Amarillo Youth Symphony. Guli joined Chamber Music Amarillo for their "Winds of Change" concert and participated in the debut performance of the Amarillo Symphony Brass Quintet in another CMA concert. Amidst these varied projects, he maintained his role as principal horn with the Amarillo Symphony, Amarillo Opera, and the Amarillo Virtuosi.
